With the latest transfer window coming to an end on September 1, each club that has spent an enormous amount of money is sharing its success. Among these clubs is Barcelona which has also spent heavily in the recent transfer window.

Xavi Hernandez, the current former Barcelona player, and current club manager had the club spend a tremendous amount of money for the execution of key transfers.

Xavi Hernandez played for Barcelona for 17 years making 505 appearances for the Spanish club between 1998 and 2015. Throughout his tenure at Barcelona, Xavi scored 58 goals for the team.

While playing for Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez had the opportunity of playing with one of the fiercest teams the club ever had. He played alongside Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi, Iniesta, Puyol, Eto’o, Henry, Rafael Marquez, and many more.

Therefore, Xavi Hernandez is determined to bring the glory back to Barcelona and wants to build a squad similar to the year 2009.

Xavi Made the Calls

Xavi rejoined Barcelona in November 2021 and this time, he did as the manager of the club. The player knew that he had to make several changes to the team and bring in strong and fresh players to the squad.

This is the reason why Xavi had the club spend around €153 million to build a strong squad.

Despite facing financial issues, the club was able to back Xavi financially and helped him build a strong squad.

Andreas Christensen and Frank Kessie’s Signings

In the recent transfer window, the first two transfers Xavi carried out were for Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie. Xavi was able to bring both players onboard as free agents.

Andreas Christensen had moved from Chelsea while Franck Kessie moved from AC Milan. Both players had their contracts expire at their respective clubs so Xavi had the opportunity of signing them without any transfer fees.

Both players have signed four-year contracts each at the club and will be adding much value to the squad.

Andreas Christensen played at Chelsea from 2014 to 2022 as a center-back, making 93 appearances with zero goals.
